Year 10 - Photography / Media

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students will be introduced and become involved in creating visual work using both ‘wet darkroom’ and ‘digital’ methods of photography. They will experience the use of the Single Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras and the development of film and the process for making black and white photos. The creation of digital photographic images will also be experienced and these outcomes will be used to communicate particular information. Students will also undertake an Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) project that may involve collaborative work and the use of a range of different learning experiences and processes to produce a booklet of student photographs. Possible topics include

Portraiture photography/ Glamour
Urban and Natural Landscape
Documentary
Artistic
Social comment
Still Life
Photographic Essay

 

MAIN ASSESSMENT TASKS

Students are assessed based on the Victorian edition of the Australian Curriculum (AusVELS). This will involve folio work, a Rich Task and different skill development and ability to respond to a range of photography images and concepts. Students will also be assessed on their knowledge and skills using specific Information and Computer Technology (ICT) software to achieve particular outcomes.
