Year 11 - Literature Unit 1-2

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Units 1&2 Literature focuses on the ways literary texts represent human experience and the reading practices students develop to deepen their understanding of a text. Students study a variety of genres; film, short stories, a play and novels, engaging closely with the language of texts while relating what they read to their own lives and social contexts.

Students respond to texts personally, critically and creatively. They are encouraged to explore, question, compare, interpret and analyse what they read and view.

The course design, content and structure of Units 1&2 is ideal preparation for Literature Units 3&4.  The emphasis on a deeper inquiry into texts and the reading and writing skills are also particularly beneficial for the study of VCE English.
