Year 9 - Integrated Curriculum (English)

ENGLISH

Year 9 English is delivered as part of the Integrated Curriculum course. Each unit of work that students undertake involves the core English learning standards of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. Students read and create a range of multi-modal texts consistent with the unit they are studying.

In addition to the units of work, students also complete a Writing Folio showcasing several writing styles, including:

  • Reports
  • Diary entries
  • Opinion pieces
  • Persuasive Pieces
  • Poetry
  • Essays
  • Creative writing

Each semester the students analyse a literary text that explores themes and issues related to their own lives.  The students create written and oral responses to the text.

EQUIPMENT;

Students use their Macbook to access the Ultranet and associated activities.

Students also need a display folio for their written pieces, along with pens and pencils.

Novels for the literary text study are available for the students to borrow from the College library.
