Year 9 - Drama

 

SUBJECT DESCRIPTION

Year 9 Drama is designed to give students the next step into drama through practical group based and individual activities aimed to develop self confidence, effective communication and performance techniques. Students are given the opportunity to explore drama styles, use masks and begin to develop their analytical skills. Students attend a professional drama performance and analyse the actors use of expressive skills.

Students experiment with voice, body language and movement through the creation, development and performance of several original pieces.

Students also explore traditional dramatic styles such as Commedia dell’arte and chose an historic style to explore.

Performing Arts offers students the opportunity to develop their improvisation, play building skills and especially confidence.

EQUIPMENT;

-1 A4 journal OR an A4 display folder with loose leaf paper.

-Scissors

-Gluestick

– An open mind and a willingness to try new things.
