Year 9 - Performing Arts


Year 9 Performing Arts is designed to give students an introduction to drama through practical group based and individual activities aimed to develop self confidence, effective communication and basic performance techniques. Non-verbal and verbal means are investigated through a range of activities designed to enhance students’ understanding of the nature of communication.

Students experiment with voice, body language and movement through the creation, development and performance of several original pieces.

Students also explore traditional dramatic styles such as Melodrama, Commedia dell’arte or ancient Greek theatre. They also can be introduced to they zanier side of drama with an exploration of ‘non-naturalism’.

Performing Arts offers students the opportunity to develop their improvisation, play building skills and especially confidence.
